Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin):idea:0 -
i download the first one but when i went to download the second one the HIJACK THIS when it had finished downloading it said please contact the provider or something like that and then i tried again and it just went back to the home page of file hippo after it had downloaded.:(
No sure what to do next please reply0 -
Does it only freeze up when you're surfing the web?
Go to task manager (hold Ctrl+Alt+Del)
and select the performance tab - are the CPU useage / Memory boxes full?0 -
Forget the 2nd one for now
Run malwarebytes (And double check it IS malwarebytes youve downloaded. I stated you MUST click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION'. If you clicked ANYTHING else youve downloaded the wrong thing
I need to see the malwarebytes logs:idea:0 -

It means your hardware is most likely ok, and your problem is software based, so entirely fixable (whch was most likely the case anyway). Occasionally, if it's jumping wildly it's an indication, if not some form of infection, that your CPU is overheating, or hard drive about to go kaboom.
Does the PC freeze when you're using any other programmes?0 -
sometimes when im using manycam (webcam editing software)0

As alienRIK has said, running a full scan with malwarebytes would be the first thing to do.0

Ok doke, go to your start menu, find run, and type msconfig. Ok that, and it'll bring up a box with a few different tabs along the top
Click on Boot, and tick a box that says SAFEBOOT.
Apply and ok it, and restart the PC. When you restart, try playing around with a few programmes, see how you get on, and if anything freezes up.
PLEASE remember this process, as you need to reverse it - so msconfig, boot, and untick safeboot, to return your PC to normal boot mode when you've finished.
Essentially it should - in theory - close down any nonessential programmes for making Windows work - and if you've been infected with a primitive kind of malware it will disable it. This may be useful or it may not; it's just quicker than running software fixes for now.
However, you may find it makes no difference - but it'll take five minutes and is a basic troubleshooting step. Then we'll take it form there0 -

I defo agree with that, but I've found that running a scan wen infected with various types of whatever crops up, can be seriously arduous. I think there's a possibility his locking up is either due to his hard drive skipping, or an old school piece of malware - I haven't seen a lot of malicious stuff do much more than cause the PC to lag over the last few years (dependant on the machine, of course).0
