Windows update yesterday, problem today.

Yesterday I installed a Windows update, Windows Live essentials 2011. Today my laptop hung when starting, didn't get to login page. Tried to restart, same happened. I finally managed to get to Safe mode, and managed to restore to yesterday's restore point and it seems to be OK now. The update symbol is on my taskbar area, prompting me to load the same update, which I naturally am not keen to do, although my login problems could be coincidental (not). How do I hide the update so I don't accidently load it again, and have the same hassle in the future? Is anyone else having this problem, or just me?

I think u can untick specific updates.0

also Check for updates and let me choose when to install .0

I've done that twice already, and it keeps reverting to ready to install. I've just checked again, and once again it's ticked, and ready to install. If I change the setting to download, but leave me to choose whether to install, Windows Live onecare throws a wobbly, and goes from staus green to red, because I've turned off automatic updating. I didn't have any problems yesterday before this update notification arrived.0

okay strange, updates i untick remain unticked with no further prompts.I've done that twice already, and it keeps reverting to ready to install. Is the problem update u refer to visible in Add / Remove Programs tool? in the Control Panel to remove the updates. Open it, and make sure the “Show Updates” box is checked (it’s located in the upper right of the tool). Scan through the list and see if you can find the updates you mentioned. Remove them if you see them. Reboot and see if you still have the problem.0

I have windows 7. RIGHT CLICKING and selecting to 'hide update' makes it go away
I wasnt happy (again) with microsoft for trying to force this in what they class an 'important' update
What a joke.......:idea:0 -
Thank you, aliEnRIK, that worked. Nothing else did, when I went to try that tip it was once again ticked for installation, most annoying.0
