sky+ & freeview on same tv connection help

Hello, we've just got a new tv for the bedroom with built-in freeview. On our old tv we had a freeview box connected to the tv via the scart and the little sky+ mouse connected into the aerial socket on the tv. Obviously the new tv needs to be connected to the outside aerial to get freeview but how can we do this if the sky+ mouse is connected via the tv aerial socket. Can the outside aerial be connected via a scart or is there some sort of 'Y' connection that we could buy so that both cables go into the tv aerial socket?

Many thanks for your help.

Aerial goes into the aerial co-ax socket for Freeview. Sky+ goes into the SCART or HDMI socket surely?
    Sky+ mouse?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

You could try a Y connector, however you will lose some TV signal from your aerial, also the Magic Eye needs a good connection in order to function, so even that may not work.

The ideal solution is a 2 outlet Aerial Booster with a Sky Magic Eye pass through.

The sky box is connected to the extra tv via a co-ax cable and the mouse plugs onto the end of this cable and is then plugged into the bedroom tv. I think the mouse is also called a 'magic eye'. The main tv is set up as you say.

It is, follow my advice as above.

Just had a look at that. Sorry for not understanding but how does it work? Does the outside aerial and the co-ax cable running up from the sky box just plug into it? How does it plug into the tv?

    Thanks

Not entirely clear about the Magic Eye, but regardless of that wouldn't you be much better off connecting your new TV via a SCART (or HDMI if it's an HD box) rather than via the aerial socket? Should give a much superior signal.

If we connect using a scart from the main box we can only change the channel on sky by going down to the living room and using the remote control there. The little mouse thing means that we can access all the sky controls remotely in the bedroom using the bedroom sky remote control. I dont know how to do links but sky mouse thing is on the argos website number 534/3250 it is called a 'tv link' and that will explain it better than I can!

    macman.
The bedroom tv is too far away for scart and the magic eye via an RF feed from the Sky+ box gives you full control of all the Sky+ functions via a second Sky remote. I have the aerial plugged into the Sky+ box and an RF out of RF2 to a pass through amp feeding a bedroom and the kitchen with a magic eye in both rooms so that Sky+ is controlled from all TVs in the house. By the way, the picture is very good on both of the sets on the magic eyes but of course no HD there.

Your external aerial should be connected to your Sky box RF in, the cable from the RF2 output on the Sky box goes to your bedroom TV and connects to the set via your TV -Link magic eye.
The freeview broadcast signal will be carried along with the Sky output.
You tune your new TV to a spare analogue channel for the Sky signal, and swap over to the digital tuner if you want to watch freeview channels on it.
Thats how my set up works.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
