Money out post office counter

I have a basic Abbey Bank Account, now Santander. I would like to know if anyone has used the machine at the post office counter (looks like a large calculator that you put your card in to and enter your 4 digit pin number) to get money out.
Is the PIN number the same that you would use with the card at a ATM Machine, also what is the lowest amount you can get out? Would they let me get £4.50 out or does it have to be above ten pounds?

Thank you for your reply. I needed to know as I didn't want to be embarrassed if they said no, with a queue behind me.0

As advised they allow you to withdraw any amount I think the lowest amount I have asked for is £1.500
