Peugeot 206 boot central locking problem

Hi

The boot on my 4 year old 206 won't unlock. There is no keyhole so I cannot open it that way. The central locking on all the other doors is fine.

Does anyone know if this is a common problem and why has it done this?

I will be taking it to the dealer this week but does anyone know how much it is likely to cost?

Cheers

Is there no handle underneath to use once the car is unlocked? - my 206 is a bit older, so has no remote to "doof" the boot... but our other car has a boot doofer, a switch inside the car, and can also be opened manually using the handle on the boot.

If your remote is the only way to open if, have you tried replacing the battery in it, sometimes they can behave a bit strangely before the battery goes completely.;)

There is a handle to open the boot once it is unlocked but thats the problem, it won't unlock.

I have also looked at the manual and apparently in the boot there is a switch that you can open it with. However having put the back seat down and climbed in, I cannot see it.

Haven't thought about the battery but that could be the reason - but you would have thought none of the doors would have unlocked?

I only mentioned the battery because ours have had weird and wonderful faults in the past when running low... and it's a cheap thing to replace before you go getting the local garage to have a look at it.

  • Just had a similar problem with Daughters car and decided to leave the central locking off - W reg and 225000 miles. so looked inside back door to find a little hatch in the middle of the door panel. Spring this open and you will feel a vertical bar that operates the lock control - push one way sideways for lock the other way for unlock. Can reach it from rear passenger door.
