Worried it will affect my credit rating

in Credit cards
Hiya, I was just after some advice really!! I am having a bit of a nightmare with Santander at the moment. I have a DFS sofa credit loan with them, I pay monthly on the 18th month and until recently have had no issues.
I needed to change my bank account the direct debit used to come from and received a confirmation letter dated 20th August with the new details set up etc.... 18th September came and went and then I receive a call from Santander saying i'd defaulted!! I explained I had a letter from them confirming the new details so she apologised, said i would need to pay by card but the details were now fine and the dd would come out as normal 18th October. I got a letter a couple of days later with a £12 default charge. I was suitably annoyed and got told it would be refunded back and it should affect my credit score too much!!! I got another letter in September re confirming the new dd details.
I get a letter yesterday saying 18th October £12 default charge!!! I get a text today asking me to phone Santander cards (not open til tomorrow, helpfully!!)
I am now really pee'd off at this as this is bound to affect my credit rating!!! What can I do about this as this is not my fault and don't see what Santander are doing wrong when they have twice sent me confirmation that they have the correct bank details!!!
Help!!! Any advice welcomed!!!!
