I'm p*ssed that I'm paying for such sh*tty accommodation. If as a landlord you are going to rip of the taxpayer least make sure the homes are nice.

Thats ripping off the tax payer 200 times when it comes to Tame Estates.

That's a lot of 'professional' tenants, all in rent-arrears, can't be easy dealing with druggies and chavs who sell the copper pipes for cash and trash the place 'cos it's a larf, innit.

Can't say I was surprised to see that 17 year old single mum being evicted for arrears.

Edited to add, not that I would blame her if she was saving the money for a decent deposit on a much better house....but I doubt it.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!
  • Help. I lost the plot.

I seemed to understand one council 'blacklisting' the areas in which Danski had houses. Fine!

But then the next thing I heard was them investing (edit: Spending) loads of taxpayer's money doing them up for him!

    What did I get wrong?

The way I understood it was they took £1500 of his rent to improve house and gave him the rest. Is this the professional Landlord people on here are crying out for instead of the casual BTLeter.

Maybe the BBC should be asking why "babies on benefits" is the No.1 lifestyle choice of teen chavs to get the house provided a plate, the CB, the JSA and all the trimmings to guarantee never having do to a days work again. In comparison, the landlords look like !!!!!!! saints.

Gosh, Jeremy Vine has a cushy job. Five mins of bookending while someone else goes and does the investigative journalism!

Still cant get over his election night cowboy rubbish years ago. I cannot view him as a serious journalist. Luckily, I only see him for a few seconds before Spooks starts :)

i dont bother watching panorama any more. The really poor quality reporting they do on financial subjects (like the pensions one a few weeks back where they made so many errors. Some basic like mixing up future money terms with todays terms or using a figure for charges that was 50% higher than the benchmark set in 2001) leads me to believe that if they are making mistakes in areas that I know about then chances are they are making similar mistakes in areas I dont know about.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

    The Great Housing Rip Off

With a shortage of social housing, and the private rented market booming, reporter John Sweeney investigates the so-called 'rogue landlords' - the housing barons accused of receiving large amounts of housing benefit while using the small print in their tenancy agreements to exploit the poor and vulnerable.

Councils say they don't have the right laws to combat them, but with the new housing minister ruling out any changes in the law, Panorama examines a problem that is not going to go away.

Just saw the TV clip for this, looks truly shocking. Buy to let landlords raking it in from the tax payer and housing people in filthy slums. Looks a must see tomorrow.

It did show how awful some of these private landlords are - I thought we had laws to prevent them behaving like this, but if we haven't, then it's about time stringent legislation was bought in.

    Lin :(
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)
