The Great Housing Rip Off
With a shortage of social housing, and the private rented market booming, reporter John Sweeney investigates the so-called 'rogue landlords' - the housing barons accused of receiving large amounts of housing benefit while using the small print in their tenancy agreements to exploit the poor and vulnerable.
Councils say they don't have the right laws to combat them, but with the new housing minister ruling out any changes in the law, Panorama examines a problem that is not going to go away.

Just saw the TV clip for this, looks truly shocking. Buy to let landlords raking it in from the tax payer and housing people in filthy slums. Looks a must see tomorrow.

I will watch it with trepidation. The BBC's track record on this sort of programme is miserable. They should stick to Light Entertainment.
If it's anything like the "Pension Charges" programme, they might well be dealing with a 'real' issue, but they will let themselves down with a very unintelligent analysis, wrong facts, and examples that are really far too obscure and off-topic to make the real point. Typically (for the BBC) they might show a true "tenant from hell" and just give the tenant's own biased half of the story.0 -
