Can anyone tell me whether there's a way to tun off the spellcheck on Google Chrome?

As far as I know you can only turn it off by hacking the registry.

Unfortunately I don't have a Minor Tweaks tab, I have a Personal Stuff tab instead, which seems to be completely different.

Tools > Preferences > Under the Bonnet > scroll down to Web Content > Change Font & Language Settings > Language Tab and there's a check box to enable/disable Spell Checking.
