IE Menu Bars

I have today opened Internet Explorer and found that the menu bars are blacked out, the menu items are still there and by running the mouse over the bar can be used. Does anyone know how to rectify this. The only recent change I have made is to install Rapport for my banking.

try resetting ie.

1. Close any Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows that are currently open.
2. Click to open Internet Explorer.
3. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
5. Select the Delete personal settings check box if you would like to remove browsing history, search providers, Accelerators, home pages, and InPrivate Filtering data.
6. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
7. When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the settings, click Close, and then click OK.
8. Close Internet Explorer.
Your changes will take effect the next time you open Internet Explorer.
HTH.

You do not say what your operating system is, so here is XP, you should find similar in WIN7 / Vista

You could try changing the colour resolution, (not screen resolution).

On XP right click on blank area of desktop, select properties, select settings tab, change colour quality from 32 to 16 and see what happens.

Alternatively change your theme to windows classic - as above but select theme tab instead of settings tab, change to classic and see what happens.

one of these should cure your problem.

I had this recently on ie7 upgrade to ie8, try the 2nd option first.

Just removed Rapport and restarted PC everything OK now. How will the banks respond to not using Rapport?

Probably not but I was wondering if anything went wrong they would use this as a reason for not acceptin liability. I have all the usual firewall, anti malware and antivirus installed.

If you search this forum you'll find Rapport causing problems, it has a dubious pedigree, but I can't be bothered to find the post. :D

I use Linux part of the time and therefore don't get the prompt to install, and I always refuse it when/if on Win7 or XP.
Move along, nothing to see.
