Using A&L debit card in branch

Since having my A&L Premier Direct account since the end of last year,I've only ever withdrawn money at the counter using my debit card. I visit the branch about once a month on average. Today I was told this was not allowed & that I should in future use the cash machine for withdrawals from my account.
When I explained that I really didn't like using cash machines due to my anxiety & that I also have a pretty bad memory problem caused by my illness, making pin numbers difficult for me to remember, the cashier told me I should downgrade my account to the basic Premier account to enable me to use the debit card for counter based withdrawals.
Just wondering if anybody else has encountered this or knows if it really is a condition of the account? If it is then I'll be closing mine as how you make a withdrawal shouldn't make such a difference.

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Quote from the T&C's
If you hold a Premier Direct Current Account you will be unable to withdraw less than £250 cash per day at a Branch.
So if you withdraw more than £250 then fine but any less is a no no and always has been. It is why they pay a good interest rate on a current account ... lower operating costs.0 -
Close it then....
My local Halifax agent even put a notice on the door to say that "if you are going to withdraw under £400, please use the ATM or go to Post Office"....0 -
sorry....just realise...why not use your A&L debit card to withdraw money in a post office rather than their branch?0

As you have difficulty using PINs speak to the counter staff and have them replace your Chip & PIN with Chip & Signature. This will solve your problem and you need not be anxious or worry about compromising or forgetting your PIN.
If the counter staff aren't aware of Chip & Signature ask to see the manager.0 -
They can not penalise you because of your anxiety though
and ha ha ha - the managers hardly know anything0 -
Does the A&L Premier Direct Current Account charge interest or a transaction fee for withdrawing cash at an atm, I thought that only credit cards did.
I am considering switching my standard HSBC account to this A&L Premier Direct Current Account obviously because of the interest I can accrue, I can't seem to find any shortcomings, has anyone found better deals?
I see on HSBC's site that they do offer a Bank Account Plus which is 6% AER but you have to have some sort of monthly subscription so thats a no-no.0 -
