Clamped - and no signs

Help - I was clamped a few weeks ago,
Bill Sykes turned up - with dog, now apparently he drives a small van - Bill that is - though- well never mind.
Where I parked there were no signs on my side of the road, but the clamper said there is one on the other side of the road - and showed me where this meant the clamping/parking zone started- using a line of tarmc where the 'highway'-his term, ended and the 'private road' started - the line ran under the middle of my car. There was no other visible sign that the road beyong this 'line' was different to the rest.
I was one side of a T junction, and on the other side there were signs on both sides of the road stating you should not park - and no one does.
The clamper said there were no signs on my side of the road, because they are not allowed to put them on buildings. there was a sign on a wall in the public highway area but the clamper said this applied to the area behind the wall. There are always cars parked in front of the sign and upto where I was clamped, but they are never clamped.
I have appealled both to the Clamping company and the company who contract them.
The two reponses I have had are -from the clamping company - that the whole road is private??- not what the clamper said, and by there own admission they onlt operate on part of the road.
The company who retains them stated-that no one else parked their-implying I should have known, and that they could not put signs in the grass by the road as people would move them.
I cannot find anything to tell me if signage for parking should be on the side of the road where there is a restriction, or if it can be inferred from signage on the other side of the road? and am also not sure on what grounds and what process I can now follow.

The way you have written this is to hard on my eyes, you need to put spaces!!!
Anyway, from what I gather reading, the usual has happens, the wheel clamper bully has 'had you over' and used his intimating tactics and utter tosh information that is lies to make you think you were in the wrong.
I'm sure someone will be along shortly to advise regards signs as I'd rather not comment as I only know little regards how/where signs should be placed.0 -
First you need to gather evidence, pics of the area, signs, any signs from where you parked. It will also pay you to check with the council to see just where the public road ends and the private one begins. Copy all the paperwork you got and any signatures and numbers. You will need this for when you issue a small court claim for restitution. You also need to find who owns the road and/or hired the scum.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
