Direct Debit returned!!

Hi All MSE's,

I have just had a DD returned and I am not sure what the next step will be? Is it automatically paid when I have the funds to pay it? Its on a HSBC account.

This is the first time this has happened!!

Any help and advice would be great!

Thanks

It depends on the beneficiary and has nothing to do with HSBC. The beneficiary will either re-attempt at some point, or inform you they have been unsuccessful in collecting payment. I would suggest contacting the beneficiary to clarify.

No. The beneficiary has no way of knowing this until the Direct Debit is returned unpaid, thus they can only make "blind" attempts at collection. Which is why I have suggested you contact them, as further attempts could incur charges with HSBC.
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.
