so if i am adjudged to have this amount as savings, could i ask what i am in theory likely to lose in benefit.
am i correct in saying that one loses £1 per week, for every £250 savings, over £6,000?

Yes thats correct. And even if you hand it back to the insurance company you will still be seen as to having the full amount even though you no longer have it.0
