Help! Washing machine stuck!

Our washing machine is in a very tight gap, in fact we had to take a radiator off the wall to get it in when we moved in 2 months ago. Washing machihe has developed a fault so I need to pull it out of the gap for the engineer who is coming next week. I've removed the radiator but I can't get the thing out. I think the back feet might be wedged on the lino (rest of the floor is wood laminate but for some reason the previous owners had a little scrap of lino at the back of the washing machine gap). Any ideas on how to get it out?

  • Something similar happened with our dishwasher. I’ll describe what happed to us and if you can use the info great, if not someone else might be along soon. We bought the house which included the dishwasher and had laminate floor but the flooring did not go under the dishwasher because the dishwasher was already in place. When the dishwasher needed replacing (was not going to mend it, 12 years old so decided to get a new one) it would not pull forward because the back feet were lower than the front feet (by “feet” I mean the little screws on the corners of the machine that you can adjust). We could not lift the machine up because of the work top over it. As you tried to pull it forward the back feet just kept hitting the laminate. We knew we were getting a new one so in the end my husband cut the feet with a hacksaw and then we put wine corks on the sharp ends to protect the floor and the car when we took it down the dump. Before we put the new one in my husband got a piece of wood the same thickness as the laminate and put that down.
  • To get at the feet we had to remove the plinths from the bottoms of the adjacent cupboards.
