Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but even with the emails and previous dispute Paypal may not fight (or win) the case if they starts a chargeback.

I had a buyer buy an item and then email 4 hours later to say he had changed his mind and didn't want it. I had already sent it and asked him to simply return it on receipt. But no....he started an INR claim the same day as buying it!! I decide to wait for the 10 days I was allowed to, before uploading the tracking in the hope that by then it would show as being delivered and I would win the dispute.

Unfortunately he twigged what I was doing and started a credit card chargeback stating his card had been used fraudulently. Paypal apparantly didn't think that the previous INR claim in which he admitted to buying the item and the 6 emails I had from him were 'enough' evidence to fight the claim so he got his money back. Apparantly I was not covered by seller protection either as the tracking info shows the item has having been 'refused' and therefore they say I will get it back - 5 weeks on and still waiting!!

Hopefully as your tracking shows it as delivered and your buyer has acknowledged this, then you should at least be covered by seller protection if they chose not to fight it. It is just annoying that the buyer gets their money back! Talk about abuse of the system!

I don't think this is a chargeback scam. I think the buyer wants you to pay money directly to their bank, then will continue with the paypal claim.
  • Thanks for the replies, i haven't replied anymore to the dispute as i've said all i need to. I don't understand why she thinks for one minute it is ok to keep an item and get a refund. You couldn't do that anywhere else other than ebay land!
I'll just leave it run through now although it's not been escalated yet. I suspect she knows if she does it will have to be sent back and thats not what she's after.
So if she's not going to escalate it, it will just be closed and if she tries a chargeback i have proof it was delivered. Bizzare!
