Babylonian wrote:Greeneye - I used Parcelforce, about 3 months have passed since the close of the auction too. Am I reading it right that although she can't chargeback via paypal, she may be able to via her creditcard???
The item wasn't fragile either - it was a large, practical product, so robust and not made from (usual) breakable materials. I would have been happy to have had it back - but she refused to send it back to me. In her description she actually says she was the original owner !
Can sks advise how I save a copy of the page please?
I feel very uneasy at having uncovered this.
Just - File > Save As in Internet Explorer and select web archive it will save the whole page with pics to your desktop. Not sure how useful it would be in an event of a dispute but worth having.
At the very least note down the ebay auction number of her listing. It will disappear of ebay via normal search routes after 30 days or so. But if you have the auction number you can still access it for much longer, 90 days plus.
As for a chargeback if she used a credit card, different issuers will have different policies on how long you have to chargeback.
If I was you I'd ring up parcelforce and ask them about the case and see if they did actually send an investigator. It probably isn't cost effective for them to send out investgators for each case and there may be a monetary claim threshold below which they don't even bother with.
It's up to you wether or not you let on to parcelforce that you have suspicions. If you don't mention it best case scenario is you could end up with the scumbags cash and the cheque ;+)
Once you know wether an investgator was despatched or not you can decide how to proceed.
I would next email this girl and point out that you've spotted your item for auction and dependent on wether or not an investigator did call either:
Point out that she has comitted fraud with regards the royal mail I'm sure she would have had to sign some legal declaration in the investigators presence if they visited her (rather than just sign a piece of paper and send it back if they didn't, which she could have got anyone to sign).
And say that in this instance you are prepared to take no further action but would politely advice her not to try this again as she could end up in prision. Should stop her trying to do a chargeback if thats what she has in mind.
or
Point out that you still have the option of telling Royal mail about this and one of there inspectors could be calling. But likewise say that you are going to let it pass on this occasion.
Either way you'll end up with the cheque and her cash. But if I was you I wouldn't cash the cheque for a while ;+)
The other option I suppose is to be honest with the royal mail, but might be tricky to prove and could get messy (may involve some sort of criminal proceedings) and you still could end up out of pocket.
Let us know how you get on.
Oh and post her ebay user id on here so we can all block her from our auctions.0 -
