Cat question

I have a cat who is 2 years old, often he comes and sits with me and chews and licks my fingers. It doesn't hurt, and I am the only person he does it to.

Anybody else's cat do this?

Yes one of mine does the same thing, mostly to my daughter. If she puts her hand anywhere close to his face he starts licking her fingers and gnawing away.

Like you say, it's not painful and he looks most put out when she moves her hand away. It's quite amusing.

My one doesn't chew, but he "grooms" you to death, if you stroke him he turns around and has to start licking you. It's not very nice to be woken up to a cat licking your face :eek: At least he grew out of nuzzling my nose :eek:

One of my cats does it too - she knaws at my fingers until I move them away. The other just licks me to death especially my feet when Im in bed - feels horrible and he has been accidentally kicked many times in the middle of the night when I wake up!

One of my cats used to groom my hair, licking until it was soaking wet and gradually extending the area. As others have said very off putting being woken up by this!

My cat sits on the bed when my OH is asleep and licks his head! She never does it to me, I think his is sweatier.

My mum's cat will grab my hair in his mouth and pull it.

I think it's an affection thing, my one is usually purring and highly relaxed as he is doing it, can't say I'm the same, he has a habit of trying to lick armpits :eek: Must be the sweat and pong

my cat grooms me as well, its a love thing with us. when he grooms me it means im being neglected get off that computer and play with me. the other thing he does that he doesnt do to anyone else is headbutt me. when i come in from work or being out, he rolls on the hall floor and i tickle his belly with my foot, then he gets picked up and he headbutts my head and nuzzles my neck.

Derek in his affectionate moods is a groomer and he will do the finger licking & gnawing as well. When I go to bed I tend to read for a while and Derek will often want to groom then as well - invariably though it's my arm and it drives me potty - wet sandpaper tongue scraping up your arm repeatedly is annoying so we end up having words, sometimes he'll just accept this and will settle down and other times we end up in an all out war as I push him away and he comes raging back, all teeth and claws and not in a friendly way.

Other times though, there is no warning at all. Few nights ago, I'm reading, he's purring on the pillow next to me and next thing I know he has launched himself at my head, legs wrapped round head and neck (with claws out!) and teeth trying to scalp me - no idea why other than he is a psychopathic cat!

tizerbelle my cat is like that - he will be really nice (when it suits him) and the next he will wrap his paws round my arm or leg and try to bite and scratch me! Then the next minute he's cuddly again!!!
