ms office other options?

morning all

i need word and spreadsheets,it also needs to be readable by folks who use ms,,,is that possible??

I don't need €129 for Microsoft :p

    Open Office - default file save type can be set to Word/Excel formats, as required.

    If you have children you can buy the top version of MS Office for about £80 at software4students and install it on 2 pcs.

    Theres open ofice as been mentioned, there are others but i think open office is the best alternative

    Fans of Open Office may already be aware that at the end of September this year some members of the OpenOffice.org Project Team started a new group called "The Document Foundation". They have made available a rebranded version of Open Office called "Libre Office". See:

    Abiword also -- but only an alternative to MS Word; u can save in the .doc extension.

    It will work, just set the Load/Save defaults as required - see below screen capture, accessed from Tools>Options:
