It's really silly not to claim it.
    Child benefit
    Child tax credits
    Guardians allowance
    EMA
All could be applied for if the OP really needs assistance.

  • You three sisters have pulled together in the face of the saddest events that anyone has to face, and at a comparatively tender age, and I would like to say how much I admire you all.
To say well done would be patronising, I fear, so will just say that you exemplify everything that is good about the word family.

Agreed with others that you should at least be claiming chlild benefit - put it away for now and give it to her when she goes off to university and I'm sure she'll be extremely grateful.

Agree with the comments in praise of you all as a family.

With regard to the guardian issue, you have been lucky that your younger sister has not required medical treatment and it might be worth discussing this with your Dr to see if you would need parental responsibility to give consent for emergency treatment. I am sure that at 16 she could give her own consent, but not sure how this would work if she was unable to.

Otherwise I can't think of anything else you would need parental responsibility for.

I would probably suggest the CAB for advice re benefits.
