I'm a happy Paypal user for years both buying and selling. Paypal is like a machine, fine when working, a booger when it goes wrong. They don't want to spend big bucks on real individual customer service. When things do go wrong, dogged persistence and attention to procedures pays off.

Its a total scam as well as trying to use "Email Us service" dosent work. it just bounces back, forcing you to phone an overseas number at whatever cost, and no doubt hanging on for ever.

Exactly this is just one of many many thousands of examples of paypals dodgy procedures seriously hand those banking details over you are asking for trouble.................

But this situation occured because the payer used her credit card to pay and not her bank account. It is the buyer's credit card company who took your money, not PayPal.

Ironically, if she had paid from her bank account she probably wouldn't have been able to take your money back in the same way she could with a credit card.

Sorry I dont agree with this, I agree maybe with the part about using the bank account but if the buyer really wanted their money back they still could have achieved this through blatant lies to paypal, as has happened to me in the past the buyer could have started an item not as described complaint, they would have had to send the item back to the seller all good yeah?? NO!

They then could have simply sent an empty envelope via recorded delivery to the seller to satisfy Paypal then still got their money back leaving the seller still, out of pocket, and before you say they could have then started small claims court you try proving it, it would basically be the buyers word against the sellers, seller scammed whichever way they look at it.

The problem with chargebacks is that although paypal "claim" to fight them in the real world they never do, they roll over and give the money back there are various reasons for this but largely it boils down to the amount of chargebacks they get it would be too complicated and costly to defend all of them so they defend none simples! Also remember it is in paypals interest to keep things nice and happy between them and Visa and Mastercard who at anytime they wish can stop paypal from processing their cards.

If you are a website owner a bonified business with a real merchant account and not a mickey mouse paypal account and you have a customer that performs a chargeback the procedure is very very different, and most of the time as long as it can be proven delivery was made and the item was as described the chargeback never happens, for some reason people think they can buy anything on a credit card then get a chargeback for any old reason, it does not work that way and sometimes you lose, now a real merchant account provider will defend this on your behalf the account holder has to fill in a "claim" form generally then usually you are also sent a form to complete from your merchant account provider showing proof of delivery etc etc etc, then the claim is looked at by a human being and judged from there.

Paypal have no interest in any of this after all why should they be bothered it is your money they are playing with and if you dont have the funds in your paypal accounts that is fine to they will simply take them from any of your cards you have registered with them failing that your bank account :)

This is just one example of many many hundreds why everyone should avoid paypal like the plague sadly people only ever learn when they have been burnt........................

Yes they require a bank account to be linked, but many people find once they have linked it and re opened their account it can be removed again. However please don't fall for the paranoia, they cannot take funds from your bank account at will. If you are in dispute over a payment they will remove the payment from your paypal account and chase you for the money.

As for disputes, an INR claim is defended by proof of delivery, a fraudulent use fo card claim is defended by proof of postage. Paypal do not employ the brightest of people and often do not understand their own rules, so if you have difficulty with defending a claim always ask on the ebay board (see my sig) as someone can talk you through the process of expaining to paypal why you their rules say you must win it.

So they now need my C/A to verify, but when I try to enter it, its says "You cannot add another Bank A/c because you a/c is locked" talk about catch 22

Ha ha ha ha my word I dont know what has surprised me more the fact you make this comment to begin with or the fact YOU are a board guide on the Ebay board and really should know better!

    My word..................................

OP it sounds like they suspect something is a miss, the best thing you could do is give the vulchers a ring and see what they have to say, I would not expect anything they say to make any sense but if you cannot add the bank account online because they have "locked" your paypal account there is little else you can do.

If you have to give them bank details I would make it a bank account
that you do not use as your main account then at least you can control the amount of money available in the account.

    HTH best of luck :)

Oh PS: Apologies for going off topic ;)

I only had a credit or debit card registered with them, not a bank account.
But your better off without PayPal - they suck!
