Can anyone tell me if it is dangerous to drive a renault master with its cam belt cover missing what is the likelihood of the belt snapping?
Our mechanic told us it should be fine but advisable to get one.

    Very advisable.
Keeps all the road dirt off, salt in winter etc.
Any debris that's thrown up could be caught and snap the belt.

You could go several years without a problem or you could go down the road and a stone flicks up into the engine bay and gets lodge in the cam belt, snapping the belt and killing the engine.

So for a few quid its best to have one.
Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!
