Speakers for Laptop

I would like to invest in a nice set of speakers...budget max £200...does anyone have any recommendations?

For around £50 or less I would recommend the JBL On Tour which is a compact, portable box which definitely improves the sound quality & volume over my laptop speakers. I am not sure I would spend £200 though. Are you looking for portable speakers ?0

If you connect 'decent' speakers to the line out of a laptop you may well be disappointed, as you're at the mercy of the sound card, which often isn't 'decent'.
Plug a pair of headphones into the output from the laptop (it is a headphone output, not a speaker output, isn't it?) and see what you think of the quality. Imagine this magnified by the speakers. Would you be happy with it?0
