Kim Yeovil... I have just gone back into the comparison sites and done another search based on our usage, but for monthly DD. I don't want tied in to a deal with cancellation fees etc, but even if I did, the difference is about £100. For the tariff we want to switch to, the estimated difference over the year between monthly and quarterly DD is £10.
So, yes, I am happy paying £10 for the convenience.

Agree, this is why we've stuck with quarterly whole bill, although we could save around £10-20 a year but that's preferable to the scenario that the OP has. I'd rather have the money in my acc waiting to pay them than a nice credit in the utilities acc thanks

    Hi iankerwin,

I am sorry that you are unhappy with the way we calculate the Direct Debit.

As it has been said, a monthly Direct Debit works by calculating your usage over a 12 month period, this means that your account will build up a credit balance in summer, which will then go towards your larger bills in winter.

If there is not enough credit on the account going in to winter, your payments may be increased, this is to stop you falling in to debt after the winter period.

E.ON carry out an annual spring review and aim to have the account at a zero balance at this time.

When re-calculating Direct Debit's or when customers want a refund, E.ON should ask for meter readings to make sure the account is billed up to date and accurate.

As other posters have said, we do offer a discount for paying by monthly Direct Debit, but we also offer a number of other payment methods if you would prefer.

Hope this helps explain things a bit.

    Helena :)

  • To be fair I'm not sure what your complaint is, there is a generalised system for dealing with all mdd payers accounts in the same way. That you happen not to like it is difficult then for a standardised process not to be applied to the way you pay. As other posters and the eon rep adv alternative would be to go back to paying quarterly, but this would then reduce the number of tariff options open to you, so actual cost would go up, and it sounds like you're on an internet tariff, so you're looking at an increase of over 20% to cost if you were to go to quarterly billing which is some what more than the_geary's projection of 15-20 quid ayear difference. £100+ per annum more.
