Lol, I came in here after reading a thread that annoyed me too (probably the same one!)
Make mine a large glass of water please (wish I could have something stronger though!)
 Hope everyone's okay?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

            Not too bad, thanks
What is the offending thread?:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0

It's not the thread itself - it's just the fact that arguments start so easily when people offer help and it's either taken the wrong way or just knocked back altogether.
It's difficult because you want to help, but sometimes daren't suggest the obvious (eg you really shouldn't be spending £600 per month on designer clothes when you are £35k in debt) because people get offended, and feel that you're trying to dictate how they should run their lives. Sometimes I find myself reading my posts over about 10 times before I press the submit button, trying to make sure I haven't said anything that could be misunderstood, or taken offence to.
 Anyway, moan over - anyone for a Chocolate Hobnob?"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

By the way, I love your sig TNG - it took me about 10 minutes to try and work out what it meant, and then gave up and Googled it! "I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 "I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Someone corrected me on it the other day! (bleepin pedants)
Apparently it should be Carborundum not Desperandum. I kept it as is as i thought it would be a bit more obvious:D
 *munches hobnob*
I know what you mean about people taking things the wrong way. As soon as i think that one of my posts is doing that I take the pi55 out of myself or say words to the effect of 'fair enough', usually calms people down.
The other thing I do is when reading other poeple's posts, I imagine that they have typed them with a smile on their face. Doesn't seem so aggressive then and they're really having a giggle. I think if everyone did that things would be a lot more friendly. Of course you are still going to get trolls and obnoxious posters......:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0

I think that should be made one of Martin's 'Tips for posters' - Imagine every post has been typed with a smile! When you only see the words in black and white, it's so easy to misunderstand the intention behind the words.
 I like Desperandum better anyway, Carborundum sounds like a pasta sauce . "I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 . "I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Thanks - i prefer desperandum, too!!Snaggles wrote:When you only see the words in black and white, it's so easy to misunderstand the intention behind the words.
Try it - pick a thread at random (preferably one that is some kind of debate - maybe the one you came from). Read a post twice. first time imagine the poster is really angry, second time smiling - it's stunning the difference it makes to your interpretation.:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0
