Laptop shutting down

Hi Everyone,

I hope someone can help. I've had my Acer Aspire 7738g laptop since February, For the last week it seems to be over heating and then shutting down. I leave it for a while then turn it back on then it just shuts down again.

Is this a hardwear problem that acer have to sort out?

Many thanks

Steph

Seems to be a familiar problem with this model, see this thread on another forum:

Seems it is likely being caused by a build up of dust within the laptop - a fix using your vacuum cleaner is explained in post #17.

So is it best to hoover it out and see how it goes or should I book it in with acer and get them to replace the fan or something?

    Many thanks

If it's under warranty - with no charges -- get them to fix it. Otherwise they end up playing the 'blame game' icon_rolleyes.gif.

Expect a charge when they remove the fan and find a huge wad of fluff because the OP has failed to take care of it.

I've took good care of my laptop I never put it flat on the floor i leave it on it's side with the fan upwards so it would be hard for it to suck the carpet up.
