Downloading PC games onto Netbook ?

Hellooo,

I was just wondering if there is a way to download PC games?

My netbook doesn't have a cd/dvd drive.

I wanted to play football manager so I was wondering if I bought the game and loaded it onto my laptop - could I copy all the files over on a USB stick? Or just download it directly?

Can netbooks even play games?

Sorry for the rambling. I am starting to think I should have just bought another laptop - ah well! :o

Depends on which games and graphics requirements?? Many netbooks would struggle -- not what they are designed for. Yes, u could download the .exe file and attach to a usb stick.

    HTH.

    Hello,

Not tried it, but one option might be to make an .iso file from the CD (basically an image of the CD but in a file - try MagicISO or ISOMaker) and then use something on the Netbook to mount the ISO as a virtual CD (eg Virtual Clone Drive) This same company who make Virtual Clone Drive also offer 'Game Jackal' which is also supposed to be able to play games without the CD, but you have to pay for it.

Like others have said the Netbook may struggle with the graphics requirements.

OK. I'll try it with an old version of the game first before buying the new one then just to check if it can or can't play it.

The netbook was a bargain though and I couldn't really justify spending £100 more on a laptop just to play football manager games!

    Cheers guys.

good idea; games do differ as to their processing requirements. download-able games from the web might be doable but pre-packaged commercial games -- that's a different kettle of fish.
  • If the netbook has an atom processor, which i would assume it does, I doubt it will run. £100 for the pleasure of Football Manager is nothing!!!
  • the demo for 2011 is now out, try downloading that and see how it performs, don't think there is much chance of running the 3d view but you maybe could used the 2d view?

Have you thought of using Steam? You download rather than hard copies. If you have your FM serial you can activate using Steam and download the game through that.

    http://store.steampowered.com/about/

Once account set up, and loaded, go to Games-> Activate a Product Using Steam.

    I have FM09 on mine.
