Hello,
This is my first post here so bare with me, i hope im in the correct area.
I am a 22 year old male with a bad credit rating. Tomorrow i will be going into the bank (natwest) with my father who wants to add my name onto his bank account (emergency access funds whilst travelling), but because i have been refused accounts/loans with banks before because of my credit rating, will they say anything/ does anybody know if this will effect me allowing to be added on to the joint account?
Many thanks for reading

The bank will probably run a credit search on both names as, whilst it is a conversion of an existing account, the credit checking process is much the same.
Unless there is something seriously concerning on your credit record (I'm thinking along the lines of fraud here) the bank is unlikely to refuse the request, but it is not a rubber stamp exercise. I think banks usually try to avoid refusing if at all possible as the usual result of refusal is the existing customer moving their accounts elsewhere.
As an aside, I would hope that they also advise your dad of the implications of adding you to his account if you are not already financially linked (in terms of the negative impact on his credit record).0 -
IMO they will credit score you - you may be refused.0

Is your father aware that his own credit rating will be shot to pieces if he does this?0
