SANTANDER - Opened account 2 months ago, still not received my debit card.

Hi,

I know there are various horror stories with Santander, and unwisely, 2 months ago (over 2 months ago now) I opened a current account with them, as well as 2 savings accounts.

Since then, I have encountered delays in receiving my post. All the documents for my savings accounts were sent to me on time. However with my current account, I only received my internet banking details LAST WEEK! And, more to the point, I STILL haven't received my debit card - after it has been reordered 5 times!

According to my branch, there is a problem in head office, but they have pressed a few buttons and ordered another one, which again, will be with me in the next 7-10 working days, which means I inevitably have to wait until the 3rd of November to see if it arrives before I can take anything further.

I have complained to the Financial Ombudsman, who have said they caanot help as they deal only with monetary losses incurred (although I have incurred loss of interest as I have had to withdraw money from my savings in order to survive!), I have also complained to their complaints department several times nad have received nothing from them, have also complained to a regional television programme who are looking into it for me, Watchdog, and at this point in time, I have run out of options and can think of nothing else to do except get in touch with my solicitor.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Get out now is the only advice I can think of! If they can't cope with the basics, what will happen should your needs ever get more complex?
