Looking on eBay for the wheels but how do I know if they'll fit? Obviously it needs to have 4 holes in it, are they are standard on all wheels or do different companies put the studs in different places?

    E.g. will these fit?

You can get 195/45/16 winter tyres - Mytyres list them mail order, but if you call guys like Blackcircles.com or Tyreshopper then they will be able to source them for you.

    Afternoon all,

I'm looking in to getting some winter tyres for the coming months (just getting prices atm to see if it's feasible).
My Fiesta Zetec-S (newest shape) is currently on the 16" standard alloys. It's almost impossible to get winter tyres in 195/45/16 so one of the tyre places recommend getting a set of 15 steel wheels from a scrappy and fitting some 195/50/15s (he's getting prices now - for the tyres, I need to source the wheels)

    2 questions:
    1) Best place to get them? Tried partsgateway.com which emails about 6 Ford breakers, all came back with no stock. (I'm in Northampton but willing to travel)
    2) Is it ok to stick the 15" on? Will it affect the speedo reading or anything like that?

    All opinions welcome smile.gif

I am having exactly same problem!!
My car is a ford Ka StreetKa...my wheels are 16" 4 stud....but winter tyres are only available in 15"....
Ive contacted every scrap yard / motor breakers in my area with no joy! Snow is forecast for this week...sets of steel wheels/alloys on ebay are extortionate prices!

I managed to do it in the end! Found someone who had a base model Fiesta but had upgraded his wheels to aftermarket alloys. Bought his steelies for £50!
Then got Continental WinterContact TS800 195/50/R15's from Kwik Fit for around £253 fitted.
  • Just ordered a set of 4 Wolfrace Suzuka Alloys with Hankook Winter Ice Bear 195/50 15" from http://www.alloywheels.com. They are £421.00 including delivery to Aberdeen in Scotland. They are replacing the 16" rims on my wifes Fiesta Zetec 2007. Used this company last year for some alloys for my Zafira and fitted Avon Ice Touring tyres bought from http://www.camskill.co.uk. Best investment I have made for my car. Looked at new steel rims but cheapest I could get was £58 per rim, delivered.

It's nice to see that 'motorists' are once again thinking of 'Town and Country tyres'. Years ago we would have our own in our garage, an hour later, around the end of October, we were set up for REAL winters.
