Repair a broken HDMI cable fitting?

Have been asked to look into repairing a HDMI cable (15m) which was hardwired into a new build. On installing the TV on a wall bracket the cable was bent and the end of it broke off and remained in the TV socket leaving the 19 wires exposed.

As it's hardwired, we can't simply replace the cable. Has anyone come across a female socket (wall plate) that is easily fitted? I reckon this will be easier to do than trying to fit a new male end on the cable, and should ensure that we don't have the same problem in future.

its not completly infeasible but very fiddly and not always successful, pulling a new cable would be a much more robust solution..... (you did run the cable in conduits so you can pull them out/feed new ones in easily didn't you?)

for a repair you'd need something like this:

    http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/hdmi-solder-connector.html

you could then feed that into a female socket to female socket faceplate.

Just to press the point home...It's not my TV or house (thankfully) :D

The installer DID put in conduit, but he then informed me that he cable tied the cable about halfway up to ensure it didn't slip out!

I've seen the repair kits for the cable, but as I'm going to have to solder anyway.... I might as well do it properly and just put in a wall plate. I did see one on a US site for around £30, but wanted to check if anyone has seen one in the UK cheaper?

Afraid not. All of the plates on there have a female connection on the back, but I need it to have either solder terminals, or more preferably, screw terminals.

Was the 15m cable tested BEFORE it broke?

Most hdmis would fail 1080P tests at 15m. The chances of it working after youve soldered are slim

The cable actually worked fine (and tested on HD channels). The TV was working for a short period, but the guy installing the wall bracket didn't bother pulling the cable out when taking the TV off the bracket to adjust it, and broke the cable end off.

If needs be I'll just get the new cable end and solder it on, but I'd prefer to fit a wall plate to negate future mishaps.

And to point out to the installer just how stupid he was :D

Agreed, but the only way I can test it fully now is to get it repaired.

    Catch 22.
