No, Santander won't transfer cash balances over, found this out the hard way! Also, won't transfer any individual standoring orders into your account, i.e. a standing order that comes into your account from another individual's bank account.0

So if they have closed the Nationwide acc for you how do you access your
cash balance left in Nationwide ?0 -

they will only transfer any DD or SO that leave your account, any monthly/regular credits into the account, money in the account and closure will have to be done by yourself. The £100 cashback incentive is also back too. starting today.0 -
Good luck! I've not read anything positive about Santander accounts and admin of them recently so I hope you have more success.
Any reason why you're leaving Nationwide?Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

1) write yourself a cheque for the total amount.
2) do a transfer to your new account over the internet or phone.
3) withdraw it from the branch in cash and walk into santander and pay it in.
the possibilities are numerous, all that you need is some common sense to realise that other banks can't just help themselves to your balance.0 -
Do a search on this forum for 'Santander' before you commit yourself. I found them a nightmare and I was only trying to open a straightforward savings account. No way would I trust them to administer my main bank account.0

I'm afraid I have to second Acremead. I have started transferring from Natwest to Santander from August and the 11 week deadline is 1 Nov. But nothing seemed to be transferred yet despite numerous calls/visits to Santander and Natwest. Very frustrating experience indeed...:mad:0
