When we went to Egypt in August, we gave all out toiletries we didnt need at the end of the holiday to the waiters and boat staff. Apparently, they cant buy nice shower gel, shampoo etc out there and they like to take stuff home to their families. If they have children, maybe take some couloring pencils and bits like that for them to give.

My OH has to work in Egypt a couple of times a year and he has found that when he takes presents over the things that are most appreciated are typically English things..... for example Kendal Mint cake (very sugary and minty - and very much liked by the Egyptians. Think of mint tea! And it's cheap. The packaging looks great as well - all that stuff about being taken up Everest by English adventurers) We also found that Betty's Tea shop do great English biscuits and cakes - again with lovely packaging or tins. You might have to google for that if you aren't near a shop. But they definitely aren't expensive.

I think it is because he takes over stylised English things with lovely packaging - so totally unlike anyhting available in Egypt - that it seems to them to be a nice present.

    Hope this helps!
