It seems they've doubled the price then halved it the toys don't
Appear to be the amazing bargains they make out.
I would suggest shopping around before taking
Their word for it.

Exactly the same with the wine.
I've had better £3.50 bottles from the Lidls of this world than some of their £4 or £5 half price offerings.
The most blatant con is Sainsbury's half price strawberries in June!0 -
Could just be me but I think toys are overpriced most places, or maybe I'm becoming too MSE for my own good lol. ELC is another that seems to overcharge.Comping wishlist for 2017

Yep, I agree.
Tescos definitely seem to be charging really high prices for some things that really are just plastic afterall--I`m sure the packaging must encourage alot of people. Don`t get me wrong, I`d be the first one to say when things are a real bargain but, for instance today I`ve noticed alot of the signs saying WOW Look Now only £20!!! Half Price!! IMO Most of these are honestly not worthy of the price tag now let alone the £40 one BEFORE the sale!0 -
Let's be honest tho, this isn't limited to Tesco. There are plenty of other stores doing the same trick - and they have been for years!!0

The garage Is £20 on woolworths aswell currently so not half price0

Some things are OK in the sale others have invented RRP's to make you buy them, but its the same everywhere.
I bought my DD 2 massive presnets from tesco a few weeks ago that were half price, a genuine half price. Saved me £50.
But as the saying goes SHOP AROUND.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -

Quite agree. It makes me mistrust these companies though. How many times have you seen a large sign a sign saying £5 at Tesco's only to go over and see in the smallest letters OFF
Bad marketing (or good) depending on which way you see it.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
I think this was the start of Woolworth's fall down, that started all this double it for a week, then sell it half the original price, it really irritates a lot of people and instead of fooling people into thinking they are getting a bargain, makes them shop around even more and it seems to be becoming wider & wider practice.
Tesco latest gimmick of putting the money off value about 10 times the size of the actual price is outrageous and misleading! Am becoming less and less of a fan of Tesco:hello:0 -
I got quite excited when I heard they were having a half price sale and thought they were finally going to compete with the Sainsburys half price toy sale.
I couldn't believe what I saw when I went in to Asda the other day. There is not a chance those toys were ever that price, I don't even think they are worth it at the half price mark!
As you can guess I left the store quite annoyed actually because there were people thinking they were getting bargains. Absolutely no competition for the Sainsburys sale. I always thought Asda prided itself in being the cheaper supermarket but when it comes to the prices of their toys they are most definitely not. To say they are owned by Walmart it amazes me. We go to Walmart when we go to the US, the toys in Walmart are really cheap, what you pay in £s here you pay the same figure, but in $s over there.
Rant over, it does wind me up though, sorry!0
