HB -Student single mum date used for income

Hello
My daughter is a single mum full time student - getting HB/CTB. It is her 2nd year and Income support have just this week calculated her entitlement to IS from June 2010 - she applied in May -only took 5 months!! Now the problem is HB - they don't seem to know which date to use to add in her Student loan income - which reduces her HB amount. IS stopped from 4th september - and i know their regs state this and its correct - found a helpful webpage re IS students.
HB used 4th Oct first - the monday after her first payment of Student Loan.(not sure thats right!!) Now they have suspended from 4th Sept to 4th Oct whilst they decide what to do/use.
I used to work in HB but not upto date with regs - but i assume if regs changed for IS to use set dates they probably include HB - does anyone out there know? I reckon it will be quicker to get her claim assessed correctly if we tell them!!

PS as a previous worker in Benefits - i now see the other side and it really is a nightmare for claimants!
