  • find a long shaped cardboard box from supermarket in good condition,fill it up with small economical christmas gifts ie avon soaps etc99p shop smellies and chocies 99p tights etc wrap these in homemade decorated plain paper if you like ,seal up box with tape then using a great big bags of cotton wool from pound or 99p shop cover the box wth glue then cotton wool untill cover cut out eyes hat carrot for nose and pipe from card or paper from toilet rolls or any thing you have paper wise even news paper and colour in with childrens paints or felt tips cut out holly or use really holly from hedgerows to decorate .make a hat out of card and there you have home made snowman filled with xmas pressies years ago when i was little mum use to make these out of old boxes or old sweetie tins and a christmas house out of an old cardboard and decorated with allsorts of things my brother ,sister and i had wonderful christmas,s helping her make these which i,ll never forget homemade christmas items are economical unique and fun and non factory produced have fun.;)

    Anyone making their own cakes and xmas puds?
    Yep, I've made my own christmas cake and pudding for last few years. Don't know if it always saves money to do so, but it makes me feel soo christmassy.:) I'll also make a box of sweets for the family to share, fudge, turkish delight etc.

    Best moneysaving thing I did last year was to go to the sales in Jan and by next years wrap and cards at 75% off. I make tags from last years cards too!
