Web design & hosting 4 charity

Hello, I volunteer for the local branch of a national charity and we feel the need for our own website. There is a site for the national organisation which we can link to, but it appears that if we want something local we need to diy it. Can anyone out there recommend help & free hosting for a bunch of complete novices?

Thanks in advance

Seems a pity that your national organisation will not let you 'piggy back' on theirs by having your own local page - surely there are advantages for them in that it would be easier to impose house style etc!!!

However, it would be worth looking back at previous questions on this.

I don't personally know of any free hosters, but I do know of an inexpensive option, which is VERY easy to use.

  • For web design, it may be worth contacting your local college to see if any of their students are doing relevant courses and would like to design a website for you to be part of their coursework and do some good for their local community aswell!

Colleges are great for all sorts of things - photography students might take pictures of you/your office/your service users. Beauty therapy students are usually more than happy to wax various body parts if you can get someone to volunteer themselves to do a bit of fundraising. Graphic design students can be great for coming up with posters/leaflets etc.

Most courses require a lot of practice and coursework and students/lectureres are often happy to help charities.
