uk number for hp? (laptop problem).

I think that we have a dodgy a/c adaptor cable for our 8 month old laptop, I have tried calling the helpline and it seems to be an indian call centre, all she said to me was go onto the online helpsite, not much use when it is about to die because it is not being charged up! she wouldn't put me through to anyone else so I gave up and went online , good job we have a pc. I have emailed them telling of the problem, now I get a message back telling me it's a hardware issue and it needs repairing! all I want is a new cable!! I am 99% sure that it is the problem as the bit of cable after the connector has always looked a bit mangled and I have managed to get it working by holding the connector still whilst slightly twisting the cable. if I move the cable at all the power icon goes off even when I am holding the connector firmly in place.
