Buyer just contacted me to ask why I'd taken £8 over the cost of the item from their paypal account
No clue what they're on about. I've just checked my account and the amount of the item only is in my account from the buyer.
I've told them to call Paypal and speak to them as i cannot take money from someone else's Paypal account.
Dare I say this person is TSFE...:D

I had two lots of payment taken from my account the other day and contacted paypal who informed me it was an error on their end starting on the 19th, my transaction was on the 22nd so obviously it must have gone unnoticed for a while. they are working on fixing the problem and will contact those affected with a refund.0
