Hi my fellows
can someone explain what they mean by tax credit disregard 100/wk of smp as i am on maternity leave , and ihave given them my 2010/2011 income to be approx £4440 as i multiply 123x9 months . Please how am i going to calculate this
i start smp in april
not going to work until may next year may.
So all the tax year 2010/2011 will be spent at home nursing my baby.

basically tax credits dont include first 100 of smp. i called them today about same thing which they confirmed right.
basically add all your family income and any benefits, they removed 3900 which is the first 100 for 39 weeks.
which will give you your yearly figure. let them no and they will sort it.
they said my payments will go up but prob wont get any back dated money0 -
Couple of things, you can ignore up to £100pw of your SMP. If SMP is up to £100pw, you can ignore all of it. If it is over £100pw you can ignore £100pw. EG if you get £123pw, you only count £23 of that towards your income for the year. If you get SMA instead, you can ignore all of it irrespective of the amount pw.
You say you aren't returning to work until the following May, so for any unpaid maternity leave after SMP ends, you won't be considered as employed. This means you won't get any wtc (if you are a single claimant) and you won't get any childcare costs for that period, single or joint claimant, as in a joint claim both partners have to work at least 16 hours pw, and as already stated, as a single claimant you wont be classed as employed.0
