No Worries Loan (Again!)

Hi everyone.

Basically, in a moment of true stupidity and minor desperation (after being declined by both my bank and other reputable companies online) I went through the process of applying for a loan through No Worries loans (they called me - got my details online somehow).

Well, technically, the call came from "Discover Finance" first then I was redirect to No Worries.

The whole way through I kept asking "I'm not going to get charged am I" - the guy on the telephone assured me nothing is taken until paperwork is signed. When they asked for my card details I was a little skeptical, but proceeded nevertheless.

I was directed through about 4 different operators, when I got to the last they mentioned a charge, I said wow, hold on, cancel the whole thing I'm not paying for anything. He says "Ok I'll put you through to customer services". 1 hour and a half on hold, and no answer I gave up. Fearing the worst I shot to my bank and sure enough they have taken £79(ish) from my account.

The women at the bank was pretty sympathetic as I have basically been scammed (mis-sold and lead on, and taken money strictly without my authorisation).

What are the chances of me getting this money back? The lady at the bank said to come in as soon as it appears on my statement and they can dispute it for me; is taking it to my bank the best form of action? I've been seeing posts of people not getting money back for months and in some cases spending more getting the money back than the actual ammount owed.

I'm also concerned of them taking further money - some people have said they take £120-£150 the following month for no aparent reason.

Any advice anyone? :(

Its crazy how a momentary lack of misjudgement can cause this much stress!

Thanks

    Here we go again...

you will have to write to them and request a refund.

They can keep £5.00 for services supplied as a broker, there is nothing you can they win no matter what happens.

Learn from this, do not give bank details to any organisation without researching them first, who knows who you were giving up your bank details to.

These brokers are the lowest of the low, they are scum pure and simple, but... while people keep being so naive and handing over there bank details Willy nilly they will have a market to make money from.

read there terms and conditions regarding refunds, you do not have a dispute via the bank, you gave the details out, they didn't steal them, so there is nothing the bank will do for you.

If you want to be sure they dont take anymore money, check and see if a direct debit has been setup, if so cancel it, phone your bank and tell them your card has been lost / stolen and you need a new one, they will cancel your current one and issue another.

It may also be an idea to go over to the debt free wannabee board, and post on there, the peeps on there are really helpfull and may be able to find ways you can save money out of your current budget.

  • Well this is the problem, when people are desperate you'll do pretty much anything where you can. At times like that your guard is often down so they are just preying on the weak.

I take full responsibility for my stupid actions - Just cant offord to loose £79; why would I accept that when I'm trying to get a loan?! Crazy people. I actually got through to customer services quite quickly, and they seemed very apologetic, and said that they will listen back to the call and if they are happen it was taken without my concent I get an immediate card refund.

I haven't seen anyone get that out of them yet so I guess I just have to wait the 72 hours now.

Why let your guard down?? It's like laying down your gun when entering Toxteth! Needing a loan really is no excuse for not taking the most basic of precautions (but from your posts you already appear to know that)

Below is all the information you need. Follow the yellow brick road to a refund. Don't waste your time ranting down the phone or sending threatening emails.
