I would look at the Fiat Panda seriously, try and get a good deal on a pre-registered one. The 1.3 diesel multijet engine is supposed to be the one to go for. These were car of the year in 2004 and are great fun cars which score very highly in the tests.

I just bought an 03 plate toyota yaris on Tuesday - 1.4 diesel - great miles per gallon and so green the tax for the year is only £50.00 what more could I ask for. Bought through a dealership who delivered it 150 miles to my door.

Forgot to add this came with 1 years manufacturers warranty, 1 year car tax and 1 year MOT and 1 year breakdown cover so cannot be bad.
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j

  • £8k for a brand new 56-plate MG ZS 120+.
£500 for three year's warranty (RAC Gold)

I hear what you say about parts but with a new car, you shouldn't need parts too often.

    :)

Might as well put my bit in.

We have a suzuki and a skoda. We love the suzukis - and I've used them since I started driving. Never had any problems with them. The skoda is great as well, very reliable (we got it off my father in law - it's done 140,000 and it's still going!)

My husband is a trained mechanic so he has encountered various problems over the years with various makes. When people ask him what car to go for he always says to stick to foreign makes such as toyota, suzuki, Honda, Hyundai, Mazda. French cars he doesn't rate very well - says you can never fix them yourself - always end up having to take them to a dealer and it costs a fortune. Doesn't rate Rovers, Fords, Kia's, Fiat, very highly either - I dunno what his problem is with these ones - think it is the number of times he has seen them in the garages...!

We were actually speaking to a taxi driver at the weekend about his skoda octavia - got a glowing report!

I had a vauxhall corsa last week due to my suzuki getting fixed from someone bumping into it. was lovely to drive and mentioned to hubbie that I would quite like one. He soon put me off when he said the timing belts always go and its not something you can fix yourself without specialist tools so it would have to go to the garage all the time.

I've kinda went on a bit...:-) ...Personally, if you are looking for a good reliable car I would get a Skoda....
