Hello
Long story short.
We went on holiday in Aug and spent a lot for a great holiday on our 1 year wedding anniversary.
It did not go to plan and many things went wrong.
We complained to the hotel chain who have offered us a room upgrade if we visit any of their resorts again. We were welcome of this.
We also complained to Thomsons/First choice. We expected a letter but they rang my husband today, very apologetic and offered us £500 Vouchers, champagne and chocs.
Now I am aware people always say do not take the 1st offer, but I also do not believe its enough. We paid 3K for the holiday.
My husband is going to call them back-what is the best thing to say? How to word we want another offer but still sound nice? thanks x

I would make it clear to them exactly what elements of the holiday did not meet your expectations (and, for balance, mention some things that did meet or exceed your expectations, if any). I would also set out what you feel is a fair settlement for what you experienced.
Keep your letter to the point, do not be confrontational and be reasonable in your demands.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Thanks.
We already wrote our letter and they rang today offering the above. We are going to turn them down. Been told never accept the 1st offer and all that!
Just not sure what to say to them, am rubbish and things like that!! x0 -
it all depends on what you are complaining about, and how bad it really was. £500 vouchers might be a good offer, or it might be a paltry offer!
what was the gist of the complaint, it might give us a better idea of how generous the offer is.

Thanks for your reply.
I wont go into detail but the long and short of it is
5* Caribbean holiday booked
Anniversary package not provided during stay. Had to request it all on many occasions.
When we did get part of it, we did not get it the date requested and it came an hour late.
Rude staff on arrival
AC did not work
had to change room, only to have to come back to original one after 1 night of not unpacking
First choice rep never turned up to welcome meeting and was never at hotel. Our one phone call was v unhelpful
Toliet blocked 7 times during our stay
Electrics cut out almost every night
Room door was left open twice during our stay
became ill diarrhoea and sickness both of us last 5 days
Food cold at times both restaurants and buffet
Housekeeping room next to ours waking us up at 6am everyday
Think thats about it.
Hubby just spoke to them, they are getting back to us tomorrow but our champange and chocs (didnt get them on hol!) are coming mon or tue from marks and sparks! x0 -

In truth,
Why are you refusing the offer =
becasuse you really dont think its enough
or
because 'someone told you' never to take a first offer.
Have another think and then make up your own mindmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
TBH, I went to Acapulco a few years ago, & the electric was constantly going off, we could never go in the sea, & we had to move rooms 3 times (although the last move was an upgrade to the penthouse suite) . I think the electrics & strong current are to be expected unfortunately & not really the fault of the company or the hotel

Yeah
Anniversary package maybe down to the hotels discretion to be honest
I dont think you have a massive complaint here, in terms of your illness that could be related to change in food or water. This isnt to say you didnt get food poisoning but I wouldnt think so.
I always get upset stomach when im away I just expect it now lol

Hope anyone else that has not had a 100% great hol with some complaints do the same xx0
