Hi,
Has anyone used one of the no mess paint rollers. I need to paint the ceiling after changing a light fitting. Am hoping that it will be as it says "no mess" and i can paint without having to move everything out of the room.

Never used one but I'm sceptical especially at that price!
What I have used is the flat paint pads - they are slower than a roller but provided you keep an eye on the edges of the pad to make sure a big glob of paint isn't building up and about to drip, they are almost fool proof - rollers make a mess because they flick as they go around. The pads don't so the only risk is dripping - just don't overload and you'll be fine. You can still use your existing paint tray so its just the pad and handle you need - should cost less than £10.Adventure before Dementia!0 -
It is a bit pricey i agree. with QVC though you do get a 30 day money back guarantee soooooo...if its pants then could always send it back. Or, if it works then just do the ceiling and still send it back LOL. Just kidding as looking around i have a feeling that the whole room will need painting once the ceiling is done.
I tried the paint pads a few years back couldnt get on with them! there must be a knack that i havent got!0 -
Afraid I'm being thick and can't see it on the link
We bought a roller with an attachment on the side that flipped over, and created a straight edge for easy painting. It was a JML one, and was rubbish. was crap to use, didn't make the work look good, and fell apart on first use!0 -
Hi,
I have personally found that you are better off purchasing solid paint (usually found in the rectangular flat tubs) It doesn't drip & splatter, but it also doesn't go very far. Dulux solid matt for ceilings is very good as it also has very good covering properties.

Have found paint pads to be the best - are less messy and more economical than using a roller!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

I would still cover everything with dustsheets, just to be on the safe side!0

Hi, Neon.
I've owned and used three of these over the years. At first, when I was using ordinary emulsion, they were very good in that they do save time; you don't have to keep dipping into your paint. However, I discovered Johnstones 'obliterating' emulsion last year, which is very thick and 'does what it says on the tin'. When I used this in the paint stick, it couldn't cope and kept forcing the roller off the end of the pipe.
Don't believe the 'no mess' bit though; it just has a bit of a shield which prevents a lot of splash but not all by any means. They also occasionally drip from the end.0
