Doelani might be worth applying as they also do a means tested support. You might fall into the criteria for that if you're not on means tested benefits. Worst they can say is no.

The courses I was on about are degree courses, usually the best thing is to call them and ask if you would be eligable.

Thanks but have already looked at their website and as my hubby earns a good salary I am not entitled. Unfortunatly we are also paying and IVA so not alot of spare money so paying almost 300.00 for a OU course cannot really be justified.

    thanks anyway

To get the course fees paid you have to be doing a course that will get you a qualification, you can't just do a random module and get it paid, even if you're on income support.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I was doing a HND at college, before i had to quit half way through the 2nd year (due to said depression) and although i have HND units, i do not hold the full certificate.

Does this in anyway effect your benefits? And what about exams? I remember a former work colleague of mine having to travel all the way from Newcastle down to Birmingham just to do a exam. (eep!)

Any advice on this would be great, as doing something constructive is better than sitting here doing nothing :)

Edit: Oops! just realised its for one perticular course lol. Is it possible to do any other courses? I mean this would still be worthwhile doing though...

You can get help for any courses, as long as you don't already have a degree. See this page to see if you are eligible ---> http://www3.open.ac.uk/coursefinance/

Depending on the courses you have already taken for your HND, these can often count towards a diploma or degree so you don't have to take as many courses to get a qualification.

As for exams...it depends on how many students there are on the course. I would say it's really unusual (unless you live somewhere really out-of-the way) to have to travel so far for the exam! All my exams have been really close to where I live.
