Laptop screen - light's gone out.

I have an "Iridium" laptop with a screen which isn't lighting.
I can just about see that the stuff on the screen is there,
but is too dark to be read.
Are there bulbs in laptop screens? How on earth do I get at them?
It looks as though a dashboard light has gone..

Sounds like your backlight has gone. Not very cheap to fix unfortunately and usually involves a new screen.0
