Tyres for a Ford Focus
Options
My Mrs focus needs a new set of front tyres.
Both fronts need replacing, got Armstrong tyres on the front (ford own brand) not been so impressed with them worn out too quickly
Can anyone recommend a few brands & which model tyre are decent for a focus but at the same time not formula one prices!

I've not tried them myself, but apparently Costco's tyres are very cheap, if there's one near you!0

Try e-tyres.co.uk they will come to your house or work & fit, very competitive if not best prices.
Costco are cheap but only sell Michelin tyres I believe.0 -
Hello cheggers
I'll move your thread over to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board, where it should get more views and responses.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Check out https://www.mytyres.co.uk
Get continental, bridgestone, michelin or similar and you cannot go wrong. Dont get cheap brands as your car tyres are your safety. Get a local tyre place to fit the tyres for £10 each with balancing (front tyres needs to be balance), or £5 with no balancing.0 -
I concur with ArsenalFC0

My wife does upward of 35k miles a year in her 52 plate Mondeo and has gone through the lot and the best value for money are Pirelli, cost about £70 each but will do about 40-45k miles before they need changing.
Good luck!Tips are good, tips are good, you know that tips are good!0 -
Right, first of all - tyres are you safety belt - they are the only things that keep you on the road i.e. alive. You have 4 handprint sized patches on the road which are all that you rely on... so in my honest option, tyres are one area where money saving shouldn't be taken to the extreme.
I drive pretty keenly in my Focus, and have done many track days in it... its only a Ghia TDCI, but tyre choice makes all the difference in safety. You may not need the limits of grip for daily driving, but come an emergency situation you'll be glad you didn't by Nankyangs.
My personal recommendations would be either some Pirellis - my favourites are P Zero Neros. Toyo T1R and T1S are both great tyres, Goodyear Eagle F1s are pretty good, but don't last too long, and Khumo Sports are also a great VFM tyre! All of these are very reasonably priced, and well worth considering.
If you prefer a slightly cheaper tyre, stick to the main brands... Goodyear, Dunlop, Pirelli etc.
For online retailers, I've used https://www.blackcircles.com and https://www.mytyres.co.uk . Both are excellent, but I've found my local small backstreet independant guy will beat the price, fitted!Saying that, buying a good 20 tyres off him a year helps
Good luck...0 -
But my parents only get 15 - 20k out of Pirelli P6000s on a Focus - and it's not driven enthusiastically. I can't say that I'm that impressed by them in the wet either, although they're a reasonably competent tyre that was on it from new.
Assuming the tyre size is 195/55/15 (most common on the Focus) it's quite an expensive size unfortunately.
If you're looking for something reasonably priced, I'd consider the Hankook Ventus Prime K105 at about £55 per corner fitted (a tenner less than Pirellis). Hankook is now an OE supplier to Ford, certainly on the Mondeo - not sure about on the Focus.
The AutoBild tyre review states:Vorbildlich. Spitzenfahrleistungen mit sehr guter Seitenführung und harmonischem Fahrverhalten auf nasser Fahrbahn, sicheres und ausgewogenes Handling auf trockener Piste. Schwächen: durchschnittliche Aquaplaningreserven in Kurven
Rating: exemplary. Superb on-road behaviour with very good cornering; well behaved on wet surfaces, safe and balanced handling in the dry. Weaknesses: only average in respect of aquaplaning in curves.Debt at highest: September 2003 - £26,350
Debt now: £14,100
Debt free day: October 2008 :beer:0 -
I buy Hankooks from https://www.mytyres.co.uk. Great grip and wear and very good price0
