Should I tell the CSA they made a mistake?

Apparently their systems only work on 'real time' therefore notes do not go on the system until the date of the change - i told them of the change about a month before it happened but it couldnt be input into the system until the actual date it happened. Once on the system it then gets passed through to another department who effectively review the case and then either ammend or close the case. The timescale involved in stopping payment is all dependant on how far behind they are with reviews and until the review is done payments will continue to be taken from the absent parent and paid to the resident parent. The CSA are fully aware this means they over-pay the resident parent during this time and agree it is not an ideal situation. Once the review has taken place they will send a letter detailing how much overpayment needs to be paid back.
Oh, and they also confirmed i have done NOTHING WRONG and i DIDN'T need to contact them!

Doh! We had that too - didnt think about it at the time! We had to email them the day that the change took effect for them to action it as the computer cant do things in the future (and they did point out that until it had happened then they cant action it anyway)
Does he owe you any arrears though? Those would still continue to be paid to you even though your son has reached the point where maintenance will stop.

No there are no arrears - the account is totally upto date. I had thought about the high interest account but when i spoke to the CSA on the phone it sounded like it will be sorted in another week or two so it seems pointless.0 -

Not really to do with your question, and I'm sure there is an explanation, but I assume your child left FTE this summer and therefore payments should have been made until the first Monday in September. Or did your child intend on going onto FTE and then changed their mind? Sounds a little nosey that but would like to understand the differing advice received from CSA depending who you talk to!!!0

He applied for both FT and apprenticeship cos he had to secure a job to do an apprenticeship and if he didnt get one he would have had to do the FT course instead. Child benefit and Child tax credits stop the first Monday in Sept if they leave FTE but maintenence payments dont stop until their official employment start date (in this case 22nd Sept) not sure why the rules are different but thats what i was told both when i rang to inform them he had secured a job and when i rang them to tell them they were still paying me.
Not sure if it's relevant or not but some employers take their apprentices on through the summer (before their official training starts) if this is the case and they work full time (40 hrs) during that period Child benefit and Child Tax credits stop immediately and do not continue until the 1st Mon in Sept. i would be very cautious about what the csa say.They are well within their rights years later to demand that monry back if it was paid mistakenly.and as for your comment 'If they cant afford maintenence then they shouldnt have kids!'...who in their right mind goes into a relationship thinking 'ok,well we wont have kids because if we split then i wont be able to afford maintenance'?.
The csa persecutes those fathers who pay and are willing to pay for their children, at the sake of the nrp's new children. unfortunately the csa dont give to f's about those who wont pay for their children and continue to chase those who do pay and make up false arrears, etc.ahh...rant over0
