Chomeur, which hotel are you booked into, and on what board basis.

Also, have you booked direct with the hotel, or through a tour operator, as sometimes tour ops get reduced AI rates.

Diva, through a tour operator. The other thing to say is that both of us have travelled a great deal before, so it's not THAT special an experience such that we would want to pull out all the stops.

Well I'm back and I sure am glad we didn't go AI. That would have added £1200 to the cost and in the event we got through just £460 between us. We ate perfectly well, and drank, in moderation. The hotel seemed to have an idea that guests will eat unfeasible amounts while there, with staff looking at you with great surprise if you don't want a starter. You'd have to be a glutton, frankly, to get value for money going AI.

eating & drinking in the maldives can be very expensive as the majority of things have to be imported, due to the nature of the islands.

So what? A substantial amount of food in the UK is imported.
  • We had 2 weeks AI 3* for £1,000 about 5 years ago. Got it on teletext.
Glad we were AI as drinks were well expensive and we don't do 2 beers a night on holiday!
