Bank Account Missing From Credit Report?

Hello

I recently signed up for a free 30 day trial with CreditExpert.co.uk and called them today in order to cancel it before they start charging me. When i rang up however they informed me that my bank account is not present on my report and that this is probably because my bank havent released the information to them. They said i needed to email credit expert with my account number, sort code and the name of my bank so that Credit Expert can request the information. They reccomended that i do this before cancelling my account as it could affect my credit score.

I am clueless about how credit ratings work so was hoping for a bit of advice about if this is true of if it is a trick for them to keep me longer so that i have to start paying for my account? It seems a bit dodgy to me that they want me to send them all my bank details?

Thanks

In no WAY send them your bank details, you will need to contact your bank and make them aware that your details are not being reported....but it also depends if your bank actually report to Experian, Equifax or both. As for your credit score that Credit Expert talked about is their internal scoring, so a waste of time and not to bother.

Yep, don't pay them money just to sit and wait for you bank account to show up, it will have an effect if it's on there and well maintained.

All you need to do is inform your bank and then get the £2 report in a few months to make sure it's being reported correctly.

If you signed up to Equifax free trial, they'll have most of your bank details anyway for the account/card you signed up with.

  • How long have you had the account? Pre-1999 accounts don't show up.

Well they would. They want you to not cancel your account.

Don't send them your bank details and do cancel the free trial.

    Hello

Thankyou for all your responses, i thought it sounded a bit dodgy and sending bank details off to them just sounds ridiculous. I have had the account since i was a child so god knows how many years (im 23 now). Will be ringing up to cancel it first thing tomorrow morning.

    Thanks once again

That is why it doesn't show up. Old current accounts don't show on credit history reports. As LeeSouthEast said.
